Parents Resources Corner and Toy Library

Training tools, toys and cards for speech therapy sessions can help to stimulate children’s interest in learning and facilitate their speech and language development. Parents are welcomed to borrow training books and educational toys to carry out home training, with the guidance and advice from our professional speech therapists.

Home Visits

The Centre has two social workers to conduct home visits in order to know more about the daily lives of our children and the families. As part of the parent support programs, the families in need of community service will be referred to the relevant service providers. Due to the pandemic, the social workers conducted more counselling sessions instead of home visits in the Centres or via phone calls to provide support to the families.

Parents’ Seminars / Talks

The Centre regularly organized seminars for parents to learn the essential technique to teach and raise their children with confidence. In the past year the Centre organized 7 seminars on different topics, such as “Play Therapy for Children”, “Better Ways to Discipline Children ” and “Learning through Storytelling” etc .

Parents’ Counselling

Centre’s social workers conducted counselling sessions to parents to provide emotional support and relieve them from the pressure in life and raising children. The Centre also provided counselling service by clinical psychologists in our Centre since 2012 to further support the parents. The Centre offered 584 counselling sessions by social workers, and 298 free psychotherapy counselling sessions last year.

Psychiatrist Consultation

We have witnessed numerous caregivers suffered with emotional disorders, going through the infliction of painful repercussions, such as child abuse, suicide attempts and divorce cases. In view of that, our Centre provided free psychiatrist service, helping the afflicted parents to go through the difficult time. The outcome is positive and there is a decrease in the consultation sessions of Psychiatric service needed.
