Saturday Interest Classes

To enhance the children’s speech ability, communication skills and interest in arts and music, the Centre organized a variety of interest classes on Saturday. The children could also experience a sense of accomplishment and self-affirmation through constant praise and encouragement.

Benji’s Choir

Benji’s Choir was established in May 2014. During the choir practice, the professional conductor taught our children the singing technique and the basic knowledge of music theory. Speech therapists also joined the practice to teach the children the proper pronunciation of the lyrics of the songs. We have recruited 100 children in the past year. The children were divided into 5 classes according to their singing ability and language levels by the Choir conductor. Each group has singing practice every Saturday.

Since the establishment of Benji’s Choir, the children have had remarkable improvement in different aspects. During the period of August 2018 to July 2019, the Centre invited Ms. Rebekah AuYeung, the international musician from New York to be the vocal training tutors of Benji’s Choir. They conducted vocal training, classical music theory, singing techniques and harmony singing practice to the children, to improve their music attainments and enhance the Choir’s standard. In response to the epidemic situation starting in mid-2023, the choir gradually resumed training and held three small concerts at the La Parole restaurant.

Football Class

The Centre started football training classes for the children in July 2020. The training was sponsored by the Admiralty Rotary Club and a total of 20 children participated.

The curriculum is meticulously crafted to engage children through captivating games that incorporate fundamental skills such as dribbling and passing. This approach fosters a lasting interest in football and outdoor sports within a nurturing and enjoyable environment. Through structured training, students not only enhance their footwork and body awareness but also develop their muscle strength, spatial perception, and teamwork abilities.

As of March 2024, the program has completed 38 professional training sessions, providing students with a robust football foundation and fostering the development of essential sports habits.
